“Minneapolis Public Schools Superintendent Bernadeia Johnson has recommended the School Board select Northeast-based Hillcrest Development to purchase and redevelop the district’s former headquarters at 807 Broadway St. NE.

Hillcrest is one of seven developers bidding on the chance to redevelop the building, which was built in 1914 to house a light bulb factory. The School Board is scheduled to vote on the superintendent’s recommendation May 28.”

Last Day to Register for NE/SE Soccer is Friday May 31st. Register TODAY!

Attention NE/SE Soccer Families: Some teams are filling up! We have room for just a couple more 1st/2nd graders, unless we can find at least two more parents/community members who would like to coach. Please email us at nesesoccer@gmail.com for more information about coaching. You do not need to be a soccer expert to coach. We teach you all that you need to know at our Coaches Clinic on May 29 at Logan Park (6:15 pm), and coaching is very rewarding and fun! We have already added two more teams of 3rd/4th graders, so we have some more room on those teams. The 5th/6th grade teams are also filling up fast. If you have not yet registered, the sooner the better! 7th/8th grade teams NEED more players, so encourage your middle schoolers to register for soccer this summer! Register online at our website – http://www.nesesoccer.org or stop by Logan Park, 690 13th Ave NE to register in person. If you have already registered, thanks very much and we look forward to seeing you on June 24 at Northeast Park for the beginning of the summer soccer season. Emails will go out in the next couple of weeks with team/coach assignments and contact information.

June Film 2013

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is currently developing a plan to support skate parks and related activities citywide. Related activities could include BMX biking, in-line skating, rollerblading, scooter use, and parkour, among others. The MPRB has launched a survey to learn more about community needs and preferences. We encourage skaters and non-skaters to share your opinions with us by taking the skate park survey. Take the Skate Park Survey

Or ask for a paper survey by calling 612-230-6469. The survey will remain open through June 26, 2013.
